About Me: My name is Audrey Harriss, originally Audrey Beeson, and I am thrilled to be teaching Family and Consumer Science courses at Tuscola High School! I am a TCHS and EIU graduate, and I'm very excited to be teaching back in my home town. My hobbies include cooking, baking, reading, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. My husband Elliot and I are the proud parents of two beautiful baby girls, Ellary and Isla.
Teaching Experience: I was lucky enough to do my student teaching experience at Tuscola High School, with Karen Schweighart, in the spring of 2011. I then taught at Villa Grove School District from the fall of 2011 through the spring of 2013 school years. There I was responsible for teaching Family and Consumer Science courses to grades 7 through 12. I have been teaching at Tuscola High School from the fall of 2013 to present.
Teaching Philosophy: My role as a Family and Consumer Sciences instructor is to help my students develop critical thinking skills, and to provide an educational experience which will encourage a lifetime of learning. A student should leave my classroom with a positive sense of self, and the capability to thrive in society. I believe that I have the ability to build a classroom filled with patience, compassion, and respect. The teacher I want to be is one who sees the potential in all students, and one who provides a wonderful educational experience.
